Personal Information:
Professor Freivalds initiated the Human Factors/Ergonomics Engineering program at Penn State with graduate courses in biomechanics, work psychology, modeling of the musculoskeletal system, and developed a human factors teaching and research laboratory (later named the Ben Niebel Work Design Lab). More recently he formed the Center for Cumulative Trauma Disorders Research to act as the focal point for ergonomics assistance to Pennsylvania industries. Over the last 20 years, over 75 companies have benefited from this Center. He is Fellow of the Ergonomics Society and is on the editorial boards for the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics and for Applied Ergonomics.
