Version (4.1.1) of DesignTools is now available. Some Toshiba laptops, show black squares on various DesignTools menus and displays. To remove that problem: 1) right click on your Desktop, 2) highlight and left click on Properties, 3) under the Themes tab, select Windows XP and 4), left click OK. If, when using DesignTools:you receive an error message stating that WPIconicSymbolsA, WPIconicSymbolsB or WPMathA is missing, then do the following: 1) Click on the appropriate missing file to download it to your temporary folder: WPIconicSymbolsA, WPIconicSymbolsB,WPMathA or WPMathB. 2) Install it on your PC, by clicking on the MY COMPUTER icon, go to CONTROL PANEL, then the FONTS folder, then click on the FILE menu, select INSTALL, go to your temporary folder and highlight the WPHV05NA.TTF, WPHV05NB.TTF, WPHV06NA.TTF or WPHV06NA.TTF file respectively and click on the OK button.
Errors found (by 9/2/08) in the 12th edition first printing (on the back of the title page, the first digit above ISBN number is a 1) 1) On p. 27, in Table 2.1, the float for Activity A should be 5 instead of 4, the float for Activity L should be 6 instead of 3. 2) On p. 36, Fig. 2.10 is incorrect (4 delays "in stack" prior to each operation are missing). Correct one is found in 11th edition. 3) On p. 65 in Prob. 1 Crash Schedule, the dollar cost for "L" is 3,200 instead of 2,200. 4) On p. 226, in Prob. 7, line 2, it should read 2,300 panels. 5) On p. 385, the last equation above Table 9.7 should have 21,566 instead of 12,566. 6) On p. 402, in Prob. 7, line 3, remove / to read $1 per hour. 7) On p. 417 in Fig. 10.6, there should be an arrow from the circled 11 to the number .177. 8) On p. 437, in Prob. 14, the videos are shown on the website (instead of CD). 9) On p. 534, in Fig. 13-17, the last element on the top line should be A1 instead of A0. 10) On p. 554, in Ex. 14.2, the title should read Correlated Observations. 11) On p. 574, in Prob. 10, add this as the last sentence to the problem statement: Expected output is 50 units/shift. 12) On p. 664 in Ex. 18.2, delete the last part of the last sentence (of y = 84.17 x -0.1452) and replace with the following: for which the rate of learning has improved, because the assumption is that the operator will still reach the standard time in 265 cycles. However, the total learning will have increased because of the remission. Errors found in the 11th edition fourth/fifth printing (on the back of the title page, the last digit above ISBN number is a 4 or 5)
1) On p. 130, Fig. 4-3, the label for the ordinate should be simply Force. 2) On p. 237, in Table 6-2, in Category F, add difficult assembly to the Type of activity column. 3) On p. 256, in the caption to Fig. 6-13, add Flow rates are per person. 4) On p. 257, in the 4th line up from the bottom, replace zero with less than 10% of its face velocity. 5) On p. 492 and 493, in Table 12-2, there are 8 cases in which the "f" within a RH or LH motion should be replaced with 1/2. 6) On p. 501, in the middle of the page, add: 5. Case A or B is determined by whether there is a correcting motion or not.

Errors found by 5/1/06: 1) On p. 42, Fig. 2-15, the .0080 number in the Operator column should be .0018 2) On p. 168, In the 3rd paragraph - An optimal container has a smooth, nonslip texture, is no greater than 16 inches (40 cm) in the horizontal direction, and is no greater than 12 inches ... 3) On p. 234, Complete the 3rd sentence - Light emanates spherically in all directions from the source with a one candela sources emitting 12.57 lumens (as determined from the surface area of a sphere, 4πr2). 4) On p. 229, in problem 4 - jobs shown on the webpage. 5) On p. 293, line 1, On the other hand, .. 6) On p. 293 and 295, in Example 7.1 replace the number 0.594 with 0.524 and on p. 295, the number 1.111 with 1.121. 7) On p. 300 in Fig. 7-5, Reaction time is misspelled on both ordinate labels 8) On p. 313, under Digital Displays it should be (see Figure 7-13) 9) On p. 552, in Problem 4 - replace 1,852 pages with 9,001 pages 10) Also some typos were found in DesignTools (resistor, rating). Errors found by 9/1/04: 1) On p. 229 (Prob. 6), p. 407 (Prob. 14), p. 428 (Prob. 3), the videoclips are also found on the web page under the DesignTools button. 2) The fifth element of the time study form, O should be OT 3) On p. 37, in Fig. 2-11, in the Summary, there should be 8 Delays (instead of 4). 4) On p. 212, in Fig. 5-25, the Shoulder Flexion angle should be marked as <90. 5) On p. 340, the 4th column of Table 8.6 should be labeled Tool cost instead of Total cost. 6) On p. 347, the last equation from the bottom up, should have 21,566 instead of 12,566. 7) On p. 387, in Figure 9-6, there should be circled 11 and arrow pointing to the Average NT of .177 of the first element. 8) On p. 393, the first equation should read x bar ± z s / sqrt (n) 9) On p. 638, in lines 4, 13, and 16, replace the word normal with standard. 10) In the inside back cover, the second formula, for TECn1, should have a lower case divisor, n1.
