
Lunchtime Tailgate
Hoagies, Chips, and Traditional Tailgate Food will be provided on Saturday. As students and other attendees finish eating, they are encouraged to tour the Leonhard Building’s facilities and resources through the following activities. Read below for more details.

Factory for Advanced Manufacturing Education Lab Tours
As attendees finish eating, one highlighted activity will be tours of the Factory for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) laboratory is located in the heart of the Leonhard Building. The FAME Lab is a 10,000 square foot integrated high bay laboratory for teaching and research. The main objectives of the FAME Lab is to reinforce the principles and theoretical concepts taught in the classroom and to introduce students to the equipment, procedures and difficulties associated with common engineering processes. The FAME lab is comprised of several specialized areas including a HAAS Technical Education Center, a Metalcasting Area, a Welding Area, and a Manual Machining Area.
The lab has most of the elements of a real manufacturing facility. It houses many diverse manufacturing processes, including casting, welding, machining, forming, injection molding, assembly. In addition, the lab includes automated high-tech facilities dealing with robotics and assembly featuring Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) cells and robots. Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Trivia and Lab Tour
Attendees will also have the opportunity to test their knowledge of human factors and ergonomics through interactive trivia, demonstrations, and competitions sponsored by the Penn State Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. Students are encouraged to stop by for 5-10 minutes to see what HFES is all about and to for the chance to win prizes. Click here to visit the PSU HFES homepage.
Regional Best Practices Meeting
During the later portion of lunch, the Regional Best Practices Meeting will be held for officers of regional chapters. This meeting will serve as a roundtable discussion of the high points and low points from the last year within the IIE Northeast Student Chapters. Student leaders will have the opportunity to network and discuss possible fundraisers, events, and activities to gain new membership, reach out to corporate partners, and plan exciting activities for members.
