What is SME?

The society of Manufacturing Engineers, founded in 1932, has more than 80,000 members and has chartered more than 300 senior chapters and 200 student chapters. The purpose of the Society is to advance scientific knowledge in Manufacturing Engineering, provide the means and methods of applying such knowledge both in practice and education, and to promote and engage actively in research, writing, publishing, and dissemination of knowledge within this field.

What Does SME Do?

SME student chapters meet once a month, scheduled on a meeting by meeting basis. At those meetings we will schedule educational tours, picnics, and other special events. We also discuss plans for projects and internships with Manufacturing Professionals.

What's in it for you?

SME will take you on tours, introduce you to manufacturing professional contacts, and provide you with an environment conducive to increase and enrich your knowledge in the manufacturing industry and have a lot of fun doing it!

Who can join Student SME?

This organization is for anyone with some good ideas, and interest in the Manufacturing field, and a desire to spend some time with others with similar interests. Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and QMM students are especially welcome.
